Each of the teeny roses measures less than 1/4-inch/.5cm wide (please
see 2nd photo for the sizing reference.) I have soldered them onto sterling silver earring posts
with butterfly backings.
My Design Process:
I form each
rose by hand - petal by petal - without the use of molds. I make the
roses with fine silver precious metal clay (.999% silver content, versus
.925% as found in sterling silver.) The whole process is all done by
hand from start to finish: the roses are formed, dried, and then fired
in a kiln. I then go through the process of burnishing, oxidizing,
buffing and polishing.
I have intentionally oxidized (darkened)
the earrings in some areas to bring out the texture and depth of the
silver. Please note that silver will continue to oxidize over time, with
exposure to air, liquid, chemicals, etc. You can use a soft polishing
cloth or silver polish paste to touch up your earrings.

make each pair of earrings, please visit my blog post about the process: http://victoriaallison.wordpress.com/2012/01/20/fine-silver-rose-earrings/
